Aim and description

Location: Herderbau, Room 200/400
Date: October 24-28

The interest in quantum coherent energy transport in complex systems is mainly stimulated by recent findings in biological systems, such as photosynthetic complexes or bird magnetoreception. This raises the question whether fast and efficient energy transport, steered by quantum coherence, can be incorporated in disordered and noisy environments, ultimately to design a new generation of artificial light harvesting devices. Such systems are tangent to a multitude of research fields, such as quantum chaos, disordered and open quantum systems, quantum information, coherent control and quantum chemistry.
The aim of the workshop is to bring together young dedicated researchers from these fields and provide a platform for extensive discussions. In the long term, we hope that this workshop sets a foundation and starting point for scientific research targeted at expanding the knowledge on quantum coherent processes in complex transport scenarios.
